replacing alternator need help!!!

well my alternator went today and i want to replace it but i cant figure out how to loosen the belt is ther a tension screw or is there a trick to it with one of the pulleys.please help

You loosen the idler pulley nut then you take a 5mm hex head bit or allen wrench and loosen the idler pulley with that. Use the same hex head nut clockwise to tighten the new belt. Then tighten the idler nut 11-17 ft-lbs

Important question: is your car a manual transmission or an automatic? Big difference on the tensioner.

GuyL do us and yourself a favor and place a sig. in your posts. Knowing the year and tranny option helps with many troubleshooting questions and answers. The mtx cars have 2 idler pulleys and the atx's have one.

my sho is a 95 atx i looked for the tensioner is it the small pulley closest to the firewall or is it the one right near the alternator.
