I am but I decided that I still want them in there anyway. I think the reason that I didn't notice a difference with them off is that they were so beat that they weren't doing anything to begin with. I want to get some new ones and test.

I tried ford and its discontinued and they couldn't provide me with any specs. Anyone even have any specs on the thing?

Im not looking for a debate on if they are needed or not, just info.

Has anybody ever tried popping one apart? They might be refurbishable with some new shock oil and a gasket or something.

I'm sure they are. They were built, they can be rebuilt...just like those pesky ATX timing tensioners. R-134A seals might fit the bill.

Sounds like a good project.
