Mine does but for all I know the battery may be 4yrs old. From the strange but true file, I work fleet on a 14 acre lot/4000+ cars. We end up with stray keys and the best way to mate them back up to the car is by hitting the panic button and walking or driving the lot. Holding the fob against your chin when you push the button REALLY does extend the range. Don't believe me...try it for yourself. I haven't a clue why, but they did it on myth busters so we tried it and it's typically good for another 100 or so feet.

Yes holding it to my chin does work a little bit but the fob sucks. I barely had the car a year. How about that ford remote access. How's that?

My 2016 has terrible range. I can hit the garage door opener and hit the button and sometimes nothing happens; I've had it where I am 5' away and still can't get it to start or lock/unlock. I even took it and had the dealer check because it was so bad.

On my wife's 2014 Lincoln I can be a half block away and it will start.

Do you have anything plugged into a 12V power outlet or USB port?

Mine is pretty good compared to other remote start cars I've had. When I walk out of our office it's about 100 yards with a two story building in between and it still starts up. My other cars you had to be within a hundred feet, so my bar is pretty low for expectations.

Mine sucks also. Took it in and they claim mine is working as it should. I can only use it at home most of the time.

Does anyone else's range suck for the remote start?
My 2014 remote is the worst remote I have ever had. Took it back under warrantee and they claimed it was working as it should. I feel elated when I get it to work somewhere other than from my house to garage

Very similar for me, I'm on the 3rd floor and my car is on the top deck of a 2 floor parking deck, no problem from the window for my 2016 SHO.

Mine has decent distance for lock and unlock but I have to walk about 10-20 feet closer for the remote start to work.

Could it be a weak battery or faulty programmer?

I have been researching this as mine works from maybe 60 feet away, if I'm lucky. I can lock the car, but it will not start near the 40 foot range. Publications are a little skewed for the 16 model. It notes that an IA (intelligent access) or a IKT (integrated key transceiver) a real key with built in fob both have a 328 foot range in the starting section. This is the same for a 15 model. In another section, locks and latches, it says that RKE transmitters have an operating range of 65 feet. In the same section it mentions IA.

Looking in the wiring diagrams comparing the MKS to the SHO the different between the two is that the Tire Pressure Module on the Lincoln has an external antenna connected to it, but the Ford does not. The pinpoint test for the Ford for the remote start has poor range calls out checking for the proper connection of the external antenatal. I don't think its supposed to have one. Usually the wiring diagrams are correct.

what does this mean for us? well, you put two and two together.

As for right this moment I have not looked at the wring diagrams again to conform, or to look through the parts catalog. Ill work on fixing it.

If you want to try an antenna on the TPMS , I have one, let me know. I had a 13 SHO and I had great range and it didn't have the antenna.
