Remote Start question

Since you guys have been so helpful with my last question I thought I'd bounce another one off the group!

It seems like my remote start isn't working as it should. I try both of my keys and it just won't activate, So my question is does anyone have some areas I can look into?

1) Is the car locked? I believe it needs to be locked before it will start.
2) Are the batteries good in the remote?

You have to hit the lock first then hit the auto start twice. I also was confused.

This is from the '13 owners manual.

The remote start system will not work if:
• the ignition is on
• the alarm system is triggered
• you disable the feature
• the hood is not closed
• the transmission is not in P
• the vehicle battery voltage is too low
• your service engine soon light is on.
