Does anyone have the factory remote start? I was looking into getting it but they say once u remote start the car then when u unlock the doors it shuts down and u have to restart it. Is this true? kinda defeats the purpose in my book.

its probably because some places hold the owner partially responsible if he leaves the vehicle running and someone steals it.

same reason most aftermarket systems wire into the brake switch, cant move the shifter w/o hitting the brakes, cant hit the brakes without killing the car, cant steal car, problem solved

Just wondering if your a smart theif.. If you get in a running car you want to steal and the keys aren't in it.. Can't you just unclip/unscrew/break off the brake switch? In my focus i could slide it off no problem... Some theifs are smart too. That's why they went for saturns :D which the ignitions work on like any key when they wear out haha..

No. The steering wheel will lock as soon as you try to steer it. With the new Taurus, with no key, I'm assummiong there is no steering lock, which is probably why the car shuts down when you open the door.

My dealer tried to sell me one when I bought mine but it would have been a separate key fob and I didn't want another one. (I hate having excess bulk on my keyrings) For 2011 I heard they will incorporate one into the standard SHO fob. We'll have to wait and see if this becomes true though. As for it cutting off when you unlock the doors is kinda lame. All of my vehicles, minus the L, have remote start and only hitting the brakes without the key in the ignition shuts everything down.

From what I have heard is it will be a factory option in 2011. The one for 2010 Sho's (PTS model taurus) will be available very soon.

Yes opening the door turns it off, but that can be bypassed during install. (Think door switch )

I don't think it does because the point of remote start is to cool or heat the vehicle before you get in it, correct? So when you get to the car after it's already been running, it should already be warmed up or cooled down. Then all you have is the HUGE inconvenience of lifting your finger and pushing the start button to turn it back on again. God forbid you hurt your delicate index finger. ;)
