Alright, I FINALLY got the remote that I bought from E-Bay. PLEASE help with the programming. I got instructions with the remote (which are the same as I got from the Ford Dealer)BUT the connector with the pins that I need to short out in NOT in the trunk like everyone says (I have a 93 hence the name) I searched the archives and even found a picture. My trunk looks just like the picture EXCEPT the connector to short isn't there. I know I have a FORD factory alarm. PLEASE tell me where else this thing might be. I'm tired of having to use the bypass button every time I want to start the car.

It sounds like you have the Ford System 4 alarm installed in addition to your remote keyless entry.

There's a possibility that when they installed it that your programming connector ended up down below the back seat. Try pulling the lower seat (it's pretty easy -- just push it towards the back of the car & pull up), and looking for it under there. If that doesn't work, you can pop the two screws and remove the upper part of the seat, and follow the 3/4" harness from the black keyless module down along the front of the wheel well to the kick panel. Chances are you'll find it somewhere.

Follow the bundle of wires leading to the keyless module from below &
to the left (clearly visible in your picture). There should be one
that leads to a grey or black 2-wire male connector which is not
connected to anything. It is probably partially/completely concealed
behind the trunk carpet, so you may have to pull it down some to find
the connector. It is often just in front of the inertia fuel cut-off
switch. The wires going to this connector should both be white with a
yellow stripe. (You may also find another unconnected grey or black
female connector, but it will have 4 wires, and is NOT the one you
want!) Once you've identified this connector, do the following:

1. Turn the key to RUN or ACC (leave the door open).
2. Take a large paper clip, screwdriver, or even a penny, and place it inside this connector so that it is touching both of the metal prongs in the connector at the same time. The connector is now shorted ("jumped"). All of your doors should then lock, and unlock.
3. Remove the paperclip/jumper.
4. Press any one button on the first transmitter you want to program, the doors should lock & unlock to verify programming.
5. Repeat step 4 for each additional remote you want to program, up to 4 total (don't forget the one attached to the key in the ignition).
6. When all transmitters have been programmed, turn the key to OFF. The doors should lock & unlock one last time.
7. Check to make sure all the transmitters work. Repeat programming if any don't work. You will have to re-program any custom keyless code you may have had, as well as reset the autolock feature to your desired option.

Note that any time you do this you have to program all of the transmitters at the same time. Each time you enter programming mode with the jumper, it erases the module's memory.

Hope this helps.

I copied this from scott.

I have COMPLETELY taken my trunk apart, and the connector is NOT there. I'll try under (behind)the rear seat. Also, I jumped the pins on the 4 wire connector and now my radio doesn't work. I checked the fuses in the fuse box and they are all good. Any idea what I did?

Maybe I should clear up a couple of things. After reading one of the other replys, I apparently didn't give out all the info. Maybe I just have the alarm syster? I do NOT have a keypad built into my door. Does this mean that I don't have the option of using a remote? When I bought the car from Al Fitz, he said the car originally had a remote when he got it, but he didn't get it back when he repoed the car.
BTW the car is getting painted this weekend ! ! ! I'm excited to have it done, just wish I had a radio and a remote that worked.

There is no connector in the trunk, you need a ford alarm remote, not a ford keyless remote. this is because you're car didn't have the factory keyless entry.
