I'll be ordering my 2011 with remote start and key-less. Ive been told by my dealer that for 2011 these are now combined into one keyfob. Can anyone confirm this as fact.

Would like to know also. I'll replace mine in a heartbeat if thats the case. The less key fobs, keys, etc in my pocket the better. Last I heard though the remote start was a separate little box that was NOT attached to the key fob.

I agree but really I don't even use mine, I leave it in it's holder in the center console and lock the car with the keypad. I was very impressed with the fact that if you lock the car with the key in it and using the keypad you couldn't just walk up and run your finger over the controls to open it, yet if I have the key out I can.

So for the most part the key's in the car, like anything else if they want it bad enough it won't matter if they key is in it or not.

Maybe I'm paranoid but it's a lot easier for someone to break into the car, try the start button and be greeted with "Press brake to start" than try to hot wire the car. And with keyless it doesn't matter where you hide the key in the car....

Not to mention many insurances will deny or balk at a claim where the key was used in the theft.

I can tell you the new edge (2011) has the integrated keyfob like Cadillac. It has the arrow for the remote starter and a nicer form (thinner) so its not so bulky in your pocket. This will most like go cross-carline to many other carlines.

I suppose I'll find out in six weeks. Hopefully I was told the truth. My order was placed for my Red Candy!

I don't think this is the case yet. From what I read, the 2011's are still dealer installed options, which would mean a separate FOB. If you go to Ford's Accessories web site, it shows both the one way and two way transponders. (I installed my own that I bought over the counter at the dealer.....I just don't trust today's installers to do the job well) You still have to program another key and bury it in the car. The way they keep people from driving off with it is that you remove the battery and put a pellet in there that supplies power only when you energize the remote starter.

I saw it, never took any pics. I'll see if I can snap some later.

Is it different for you guys in the Great White North? Mine is one of the first SHOs made and it has the intelligent access and push button start standard. Also, you guys don't have HID headlights, right? Are there any pics of an SHO without them, I'm curious?

The keyfob is exactly the same as the ones you have in the US. i think we were talking about possibly there might be a new version for 2011 (maybe / maybe not). Thought was if they offer remote start, then the keyfob might be similar to that which will be offered with the 2011 Edge. I too have the pushbutton start with IA and it is essentially the same keyfob as the Lincoln MKS (since that launched in 2009).

As for HIDs - correct, we don't get them. Due to DRL, we get the standard Halogen bulb running at a reduced intensity for DRL operation. I always thought they would use the lower LED fog as DRL, but I guess it doesn't have enough light output to qualify.

My 2011 has the exact same FOB as the 2010's and it didn't show the factory remote start as an option on my car either.....

Actually if they break in the alarm goes off and starter is disabled, unless they know exactly where you hid they key it's pretty useless. Besides if they want it bad enough key or not they are going to take it, most times they just drag it up on a flatbed and haul it away in a couple minutes flat, they'll mess with the Alarm later ;)
