Hopefully someone can give me some direction. But for the longest I have noticed a continuous thumping sound coming from the rear of my car. I notice the sounds when i'm sitting with the car running. It sounds to be coming from the the bottom rear, like near the trunk. When it occurs i can feel it thru the floor broad when i'm in the car. And it's definetly not my music, that was stolen recently  . I haven't had any drivablity issues besides my bad suspension of course. Someome please help.
Thanks

Check your rear sway bar bushings and endlinks. When I replaced mine, it made everything in the rear nice and quiet.

You can do a search function in this forum for parts #'s on the bushings. Good Luck.

How would that resolve the problem? Were you experiencing similiar noices?

Do you hear the sound when the car is stopped with engine running? I have a some what random thumping sound coming from the rear of my car when stopped and moving slowly. It is most noticeable in stop and go traffic. I think it could be sudden changes in fuel tank pressure. I'm wondering if it could be a sticking evaporative emission valve (the valve that plugs into the tank and returns fuel vapor to the vapor canister). I tried to order one last year, but was told that they were on national backorder.

It's funny that you say that...cause I thought it was the fuel pump one time and had it replaced a few years ago...when i got the car back it didn't make the noise then it started back up again.

Sounds like the 93 Sable I got for my son. Stabilizer links were rusted off so I replaced them - stll made the noise. Struts seemed OK but I got a new set & found when I got the strut assembly off the car the top mountings were worn so much the bushing completely seperated from the rubber. The bumping noise was the strut wobbling around in a slot cut into the rubber. Note this car had the lead weights on top of the strut rods which would add the the bumping once the spacer seperates from the rubber. I can get a picture & post if anyone is interested.

when does this noise occur? the car parked with the engine idling, slow speeds, a certain RPM or speed? The suspension sounds they are talking about will not occur when you are stopped uless you have some nasty vibration going on from something else. do you have a custom exhaust that could be rubbing on something or maybe a bad mount? Possibly the fuel pressure issue too. How loud is the sound? what kind of frequency is it? like a slow tapping or a fast rattle? also check your mufflers, one of mine developed a hole in the top from rust and was making some wierd noises that sounded like they were coming from the trunk. Hope this helps

I'll try to remember to get the pics, but I replaced the links with no change, then did the struts and top mounts.

The sound is a continous low deep thumping sound...no real pattern to how often..it could be thump, thump etc or thump.....thump.....thump....thump, thump...i can only hear it whenever the car is stopped or driving slow cause it's not very loud...but i can easily feel it when it thumps under my feet.
