I can't figure out what is going on. I installed a Napa brand rear caliper for maintenance purposes. It "imploded". Jamming the pad against the rotor. Drove for quite some time before I realized it. Was metal on metal! So I bought a new rotor pad(s) etc. Now this one is doing it! What can cause this? It's been on for quite some time w/o issue.

Replace your rear brake lines. Over time they will collapse and make the caliper stick. $54 from Autozone.

You may also want to check to be certain that your parking brake cable is not preventing the caliper from fully disengaging.

Check those brake hoses then. My parking brake had been sticking for the longest time apparently..heating up my caliper, destroying it, and then heating up the hose, collapsing that. Took me forever to figure it out :bonk:

Its your brake lines. I just went through this whole sagga over the last 10k miles in my 92.

First I rebuilt the caliper and replaced all e-brake cables, 100 miles later its dragging again. SO I take it apart and everything is fine, sliders are free and greased so I put it back together and order a NEW caliper.

PUT the new caliper on and same problem, now that I have wrecked 2 rotors and 2 sets of pads I am getting ******.

SO next after reading on here I replaced the rubber brake line...BAM have drivin it 4k miles now and no dragging :****:

I hope you don't waste as much time and money on the damn brakes than I did

Hey, thanks!!!

I've been down this road too. I've burned through four calipers in two and a half years. And have never thought they were performing like they should. They would always get sluggish, and I'd hear odd sounds like a warped rotor after normal stop and go traffic.

I my right rear is making weird poping sound again when I let off the brakes. Okay new brake lines. Checking it out this week.

Wow, I think I paid that just for the rear hoses from Napa. Gonna need new cables too - I'll have to check them out.

Confirmed... I had a sticking right rear caliper. I replaced the caliper. Tried to blead the line leading to the capliper. Hardly any fluid came out, just a few drips. I bought a new brake hose from Rock Auto for $12. I got a nice steady stream when bleeding. New calipers, rotors, pads, and RR brake hose. Operates good as new. Thanks for the good info. I would have burned up my new set up in minutes without that new hose.

1 of 2 things.

Either your brackets are bad and not allowing the pin to retract properly or you have some collapsed or semi-collapsed brake lines.

You say you greased them well and that's all good and fine, but did you clean out the socket portion of the bracket where the slider pin goes? They get really crudded up inside.
