I'm have a slightly strange problem - the weatherstrip on the driver side rear door is loose and it gets stuck every time I close the door.

Upon closer inspection, the strip is held in by some small black screws with large flat head with a hex indent on it. I've discovered that time has taken its toll and the screws likely failed due to corrosion. They broke at the point right behind the weatherstrip, most likely from water or ice getting trapped behind it.

As a result, I'm going to need some replacements for these screws. (This would be after I spend some time getting a vise-grip acquainted with the stubs that are left stuck in the door.)

Does anyone happen to have a Ford part number or data on the screws so that I can find replacements? I've checked the part catalogs and I found the weatherstrip itself, but of course, no mention of the fasteners.

Thanks in advance! I'm planning to post a few pics once I get the pieces out of the door. Thinking someone may have been down this road before....

I have the same issue. The weather stripping on the rear drivers door has come off. My wasa held on with rivets and there is approx. 1/16" of the rivets still in the metal part of the door. We are going to keep the rivets in to line up the weather stripping.
We are going to use 2 part epoxy and 2 sets of hands to hold in place for 5 min. We are going to use epxoy gel that is approved for rubber.

Going to try this on Monday if the weather is warm enough. Sounds like your car might have already had this issue if there are screws rather than rivets.

The temperature was above 60 last night so cleaned the weatherstipping and the door jamb. I used clear epoxy gel. I used the remaining rivets to align the strip but placed the epoxy on the surface 9o degrees to that so i could use c-clamp vise grip to hold in place. I left the clamps on for 2 hours. I'll check to night to see if it held up. It dries complete in 24 hours. I used some scrap 1 x 1 wood pieces to clamp so not to damage the trim on the door. BTW back to black product really takes the fade out of the door trim.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm curious, so I checked both the rear doors to see if they are the same. I wonder if there was a change at some point to shave off assembly time or something along those lines. Both doors appear to have the hex heads on the screws.

The temps are nowhere near high enough to cure epoxy here - but that might not be the worst fix, actually. If I can't find a fastener, maybe I'll just back the bolts out slightly and use them as guides to hold the strip in place.

Well, upon further inspection I'm not sure what the heck was used - it looked like they had hex heads, but they also look like rivets and they don't thread out of the door (tried using a ViceGrip).

I decided to follow your method - out comes the epoxy and the clamps. Problem solved! A day later it looks great, and no more flopping weather strip and door closure issues.
