Ok, maybe I just having a brain cramp but I having trouble putting the rear brake caliper into an adjustment that I can reinstall the pads and rotor. I got it off the car and on the bench. I have turn on the piston with the compressing tool and it simply won't go in, it just turn and turns clockwise and doesn't compress . I know I missing something here but for the life of me I can think of what it is. Any ideas ,,,,

you cant push it in with a compressor.

you need to thread it back in - there is a tool you need that fits into the notches in the piston to turn it back in.

It needs to turn WHILE compressing , you can also have a clogged rubber line , very common.

Sometimes you have to push pretty hard while turning. I've got a c-clamp that's kinda weak. It flexes pretty good when I tighten it up. I use this because I can crank it down about 3 turns and still spin the piston in the caliper. It always goes back in this way.

Perfect, I will get a bigger C clamp and try that. It's like it not catching the threads and just turning.

No , the rubber line , between the caliper and the steel line. It may be collapsed and it stops the oil from passing through.

When you try to push it , the oil cant pass and its blocking you.

Try opening the bleeder when pressing it. (you might have to bleed it after)

problem solved, this is what I had to do..... I had the caliper clamped down to the work bench.. Then I used a 6 inch clamp and compressed the piston as much as I could which wasn't much... then used a large flat end screwdriver and a hammer.. with the screw driver tip against the piston notch, I gently hammered it clockwise, tighten the 6 inch clamp as I went. I made about 10 rotations by changing to the opposite notch. You could only tap it bit and the clamp would need to be tighten.. It finally grabbed the threads and I then could use the piston tool to get it all the way in.

That is alot of work to get the caliper back, it shouldnt be that hard. If mine did that, I'd replace the caliper.

It worked fine before and I am sure it will now. I only had it off as I needed a part for another car and I wasn't using that one at the time. If it had been on the car, I could have fixed it from there but as I said I already had it off. There was no corrosion on the piston and the boot was it very good shape....no need to replace it.

It's just because you waited too long to replace them. The pads wore out and allowed the piston to come out too far.

No, I had it sitting on the car without the pads or the rotor so it pushed out too far to catch the threads...... or at least that my take on it. Now I know
