Could one just push the piston all the way out, remove rust, and put it back together? They don't sell kits for this anymore?

I'd just buy a new one even though the rears are kinda pricey, although I'm pretty sure you can buy a rebuild kit though...

That price sounds too good to be true for a rebuilt rear. Autozone.com shows $55 for unloaded rebuilt rear 89 calipers. $107 for the cheapest loaded rebuilt caliper. And $134 for the most expensive rebuilt loaded caliper.

The rear caliber for my 89 cost about $60 after core core charges at AutoZone about 6 weeks ago. Definately not $30.

sorry to hear it Steve. i know some of the prices are determined by geographical location so its possible thats why youre paying more.

for us AZ charges a $70 core, but of course i got it back when i returned the old one.

There are different calipers for different years. The 89's are also $60 in New york per the AZ site.

Check the application by year. Can't extrapolate your model year's requirements on another year. You have to look it up.
