For those that didn't make the run, too bad for you guys. 22 said they were going to make it, 14 shoed. 10 SHOs, 1 T-bird SC, and 1 modded gen3 Taurus SE Duratec took the run. 1st leg we get stuck behind a vintage car club doing 40 to 55 mph which said on their website they were going to drive up from SA up hwy 16 to 337 out of Medina and over the Leakey but took 470 instead. I mapped us to take 470 to miss them, we didn't.
At hwy 83 and 1050 the T-bird and the gen3 Taurus called it a day. Then we tried a new road that according to the DeLorme Texas Atlas & Gazetteer would lead us from just west of Concan off hwy 83 up 1051 to Montell and hwy 55 it didn't. Dead end. It was a nice twisty road with 3 water crossings but we had to make a U turn and go back to hwy 83 and up to Leakey.
In Leakey we decide to eat lunch. I guess the restaurants in Leakey aren't actually used to people stopping and eating, due to lousy service in the restaurant we loose one SHO that returned to SA. After lunch 2 more SHOs call it a day and head back to SA. The last 7 SHOs continued on to 337 to Camp Wood where we on the way to Camp Wood run into road construction then a funeral that stopped traffic completely for about 10 minutes, think every one from Camp Wood was there.
Once out of Camp Wood we had clear sailing for the rest of the run although we changed the return route to SA some what. Paul said he timed us on one of the legs back to SA at 65 miles in 24 minutes.
The good news is no broken cars, no wrecked cars, and no stupid taxes having to be paid. WAS A GREAT RUN.
Those to make it.
