I have this rattling sound coming from motor that's been present for a while now and I'm trying to figure out where it's coming from. The problem here is it's hard to detect when the hood is open but I know for sure it's there. It usually happens at take off and then disappears as the revs increase. I've also isolated it to the front part of the engine and I'm pretty sure it's external. Any ideas here?

Pull the accessory belt(s) off and run the car again. This will tell you if its an accessory or not.

I'm gonna go with Catalytic Converter Shields on this one.

I replaced the Y-pipe with a Magnaflow a while back so I really can't say for sure. I looked at them and the shields seem to be on there tight.

The sheild may still be loose. A cheap fix is taking a hose clamp and putting it around the shield on both sides and back.

Worked for me.
