I would like to take the trim ring that surrounds the radio/coins/cupholder on a 95, off. I see the two screws above the radio, but it is not moving. Am I missing some hidden screws somewhere? I don't want to whale on it in fear of cracking it.
Please help

First off, don't gorilla it or you will break stuff.

Take out the radio and the coin tray/ cup holder, and look for the other screws/ nuts. They should be in there somewhere.

Additionally, that isn't a trim ring; it's the bracketry that holds the radio et.al. in the dash. Remove that, and there'll be nothing to hold the radio in place.

You get it out the same way you got the radio out....use the 4 holes (2 on either side) to put a hanger/clips/nails into and pull the unit out.

I prefer man-handling as opposed to gorrilaing things.

I have no idea how to get that ring/bracket off either. I think you might have to take the ashtray out first. IMO, I think the coin tray/cup holder assy. on SHO's esp. MTX's is idiocy. There is a place to put coins and cups in the center console.

For the GenII you have to take off the top of the center console to get to the other two nuts that hold the radio trim on. Hope that helps. :)

You can get DIN radio removal tools at the auto parts store, they come 2 in a package and they make it a snap to remove the radio and cupholder.

there are a total of 5 screws. the 2 up top, one in the back of the bracket, and 2 more along the bottom where the console meets it. to get to the bottom 2 you first have to remove the rubber "leak catcher" for the cupholder. underneath it is a torx screw. remove that. pull your shifter towards the rear of the car (like mtx in N or 4 and atx in 2). pull out your ashtray. then open your armrest. just pull on the top piece and it should snap out from the rest of the console. you can disconnect the harnesses if you want but usually you can just shimmy it outta the way just enough to get at the bottom screws of the radio bracket.

So, just to clarify here. From all the replies, I now know where all the screw are. But am I also to understand that I can remove the radio and cup holder/coin with out taking the trim ring off?
Thanks to everyone for helping.

yes there is the din removel tools that ford uses, that takes the radio etc out WITHOUT take any screws or such out on the "trim ring"

you can also take out the trim ring with the radio still attached to it.. I just like to be confusing.... good luck

Thanks again. I do have the U shaped tools to remove the radio. I just thought that trim piece had to come off before I could take the radio out.
I think I should be all set now.

Helpful hint: when you insert the U hooks, slightly bend them outwards to release the clips then pull out th radio, I had to do this on my old Cougar.

don't spend the money on the goofy u-hook tools, i used the money i saved to buy lunch. just take a metal coat hanger outta your closet. u don't even need to cut it. just keep bending the metal back n forth till it breaks. do this until u get 2 10inch or so pieces. next, bend those metal strips into u-shaped pieces. works like a charm.

The correct tools really are cheap and great to have around. Just throw them in your toolbox and you have them whenever you need them. With enough practice, you can remove your radio in 10 seconds! Just push them in til you feel a click, grab them and pull outward toward the doors, and slide the radio out.

lol. yeah i know they're cheap, but also is a custom made corned beef on rye from my corner store (+ another $1 on a soda). i've been using my coat hangers for years. you're all just jealous that you spent $4 at wal-mart and all you got was a fancy coat hanger - and i got a meal and took out my radio for free ;) (also i walked around the corner and saved gas by not driving to said wal-mart)

all kidding aside, however you choose to get them, those tools are pretty useful.
