hello, ive got the 95atx . question is, there is 2 radiator fans, {driver side & passenger side}. the pass side is the only one that i have ever seen run. Should both be running at the same time or is the drivers side a backup incase of pass fan goes out? Or is my driverside fan just bad. thanks for anyone with info.

One of the fans should run with the air conditioning, the other should turn on when the car gets to a certain temperature, I believe.

You can check to see if both fans are working by running the KOEO diagnostic test.

On my car they run concurrently...at all modes of operation(lo/hi). FWIW, I had to replace the larger fan (driver side) with a unit from AZ. It came with a LT warranty and cost about ~$70. I hope the pass. side doesn't go b/c there is no replacement for it that I could find. Ford sells the fan assembly as a whole and you don't even want to know how much they want. :squint:

fan never came on with koeo or koer . if i use jumper wires straight from battery pos and neg to driverside fan 2 wire plug shouldn't the fan run?? also does driver fan spin real free by-hand, {with engine off of course}? mine seems to be abit tight, but the pass fan spins real easy and it does run . im thinking driver fan is bad but want to make sure before i pull it.thanks for any info

Yes, it is supposed to spin freely. If both of them are toast, I'd just get another used assembly on ebay or place a WTB. It is a cake job as two bolts secure the fan assembly to the radiator.

changed the ect today didnt make the driver fan work, any idea if this is a 2 speed fan? i tried jumping it straight to the battery but it still didnt do anything. i used the 2 pin plug as pos and neg but if its 2 speed fan i may need to treat both wires as positive. not sure. thanks for your info

Yes, jumping the fans directly to the battery should make it run. It is probably fried...The lo speed circuit has a dropping resistor in line with it (looks like a white ceramic block). The CCRM may also be suspect.

so it is a 2 speed fan?? i did have power in the wiring to the fan plug, so im guessing the fan is bad. where is the resistor in line located? also what is the CCRM and location. thanks again for your help.

The fan motor itself is limited in speed by the dropping resistor. Supplying full power to the fan runs it at maximum speed. It is located toward the top on the inner side of the fan assembly. The C.onstant C.ontrol R.elay M.odule is located on the radiator support and has a gazillion wires going to it. I do not believe it is serviceable. By supplying 12v to the fan I think you have pretty much pinpointed your problem.

Clean the maf filaments? O2 sensors? Fuel filter? High NOx means it's running lean IIRC...I'm probably wrong though.
