I was told by someone at Livernois that the tune they send you is based off what mods you already have on the car. So I would think that any mods installed AFTER the tune would have an effect on how the tune performs. I don't know how it would effect it, I installed my exhaust and CAI before the tune. You might want to wait for multiple members to weigh in with their opinions before making a decision......though if you have the means, my answer to the question of which mod first would be ALL.....lol.

The tuning was on my list to upgrade. I was planning to get a cai soon. Now the exhaust, how restrictive are they really? I love the nice quiet ride. Is upgrading the exhaust really make a big difference??

Here's another question, does anybody here know where to get a nice set of taillights(all 4 pieces)? The set on my car, the chrome is peeling off and it looks like shit. Has anyone here just peeled the chrome off and painted it black? If so, can you post some pics?

Thanks

If you buy your tuning package from Torrie, he will update tunes as necessary for your mods. He is also running some Christmas Specials. You will NOT be disappointed!

Both CAI and Exhaust mods add little if any HP.. Exhaust is NOISE FLUFF..( very important to me!) CAI is Visual Fluff! Definitely looks impressive when hood is open showing off that EB engine. Shortly after I got my Flex back in early 2010, I replaced thee rear mufflers with magnaflows (satin SS that I painted black) and used the stock tips. Sounded just like a V-6 Mustang. Was almost perfect... Have since added Down Pipes and deleted 3rd cat and mid-muffler replacing them with an X-pipe. Much louder. Fine in front, but that third seat is noisy!

Downpipes are the proven poweradder in the exhaust system, adding a cutout nets you more on top of that.

Plastidip seems to work fine on top of the peeling chrome (Pg 3 of this thread http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=108154). I don't think anyone has reported success in getting the chrome off & painting it. Replacing the assemblies with colored ones from a Limited also has been done. Both look like very good options.

What he said. Except I'm pretty sure the Limited has chrome surrounds. Maybe SEL. Tascaparts.com has pretty reasonable discounted pricing. I got all four red surround pieces for about $300.

Yup. A tune and down pipes is the best bang for the buck. LMS will adjust your tune later if you add down pipes. An intake like AirRaid or K&N will need no tune adjustments.

tune. As for modifying tune with addition to exhaust or CAI Livernois will do once you buy a tune from them, you don't have to pay for modifications or update. As to my knowledge there are no modifications to there tunes for exhaust or CAI. As to other mods such down pipes, meth injection, turbo's. Tunes have to be adjusted accordingly, but whoever tune you choose it will be the biggest bang for your buck.

Seems most tune only SHO's are 12.9-13.2 in the quarter mile. How much do down pipes take off the time slip on average?

What tuners allow you to data log and send back the results for a custom tune? I live at 8,500', so would want to see how everything is working in the thin air.

Down pipes might take off another tenth or two.

I have sent dozens of datalogs to Torrie. I use the old style SCT Tuner I got new in 2010.
SCT has software on their site that you can download to determine which datapoints you want to log. I prefer earlier SCT Logging software as the new one is still evolving and some data can't be easily logged.

As for what you may want to log given your altitude, I would check with Torrie when and if you start getting ready to log. Some of the data points he has me logging are meaningless to me, but are relevant to his ability to tune effectively.

First mod should be a tune. Painless, yet night & day difference. I am with EcoBrick Bob....Torrie's tunes rock and you can't deal with a nicer guy. 2nd upgrade should be your brakes....you will need more stopping power. :)

What should I budget - more info on tune

When my warranty is up (another 50K) - I plan to do this. Will have plenty of time to squirrel away the dough.

Where can I find more info about the total cost of this upgrade, and is it easy to turn off and on if needed. My car is driven over 100 miles per day and I love the warm weather gas mileage I was getting.

Thanks in advance.

How do I get a hold of EcoBrick Bob?

EBB Just drove 4K in the last 2 weeks... He is mostly asleep right now...His Red Candy Flex is WHITE with road salt and dirt.

He often accepts PM's as long as they don't contain over 22 swear words...LOL
( not over 11 directed at EBB...):thankyou::woo-hoo::woo-hoo::woo-hoo:

He is back in FL.. after 3 stop and go's on I-75. One near Valdosta GA today slowed him down about an hr... Luckily he went around the accident and didn't sit in a 6 hr - 89 mile 3 lane backup.:dribble::dribble::dribble::dribble::dribble::dribble::dribble:

EBB's assistant...
