Questions about v8 and rwd

I have a 97 Sho and I have a few questions about it.

The first question is there enough room in the engine bay to turn the engine 90 degrees.

The next question is can parts from a Volvo v8 xc90 be interchanged with our v8. Parts like springs valves ,intake , Dohc, heads,pistons. Can the pistons and piston rings be used if our motor is over bored. would it be the same HP or better.

My last question is can I find a car (Lincoln mark vii) with the same wheel base can I drop the sho body on its chasis. By that I mean the mark vii is the same wheel base as the gen 3 Taurus. Would the frame line up and could the sub frame be swapped out. Could the drive train of the mark vii be used if the Sho had where the trans tunnel was and was cut out and frame removed and gas tank. Could the Lincoln mark vii be use if the frame floor pan was keep and everything underneath the mark vii was kept intact. Say the Lincoln mark vii floor pan was left whole including the trans tunnel and was mated to the S.** floor pan that had the trans tunnel cut out. Also could the mark vii be swapped in place of the sho knuckle and sho shocks and springs from the sho be dropped in the mark vii knuckles.

The answer to the first two question is no. For the third, well, it is a unibody design, so I am not sure how well that would work, even if the sizes are the same. Someone with way more knowledge of body stuff than me should answer that one.

I want to say someone was messing around a while back with some 2.5 liter 4 Cyl Ranger that had a 5 speed that had a similar bolt pattern to the 3.4 V8 SHO. It's been a long time since that discussion.

I took a tape measure on the MN-12 platform (89 - 97/98 Tbird, Cougar and MK 8 body style) And contemplated heavily about a '97 SHO body on a V8 MN 12 floorpan and firewall. The math works - it will fit very nicely. Get enough reinforcements in the right places and it probably won't fly apart when it hit the first bump in the road.

Something like this is a total one-off. Even if two people tried it, the methods and results would be very different.
If you are good enough to do something like this, you'll know. And you can.

All it takes is time and money....

For clarification: The 3.0 Vulcan V6 has the same bell housing pattern as the original V6 SHO motor. The V8 SHO motor has a different bolt pattern. None of those match up with the 5.0 bell housing pattern of the Mark 7 or the MN-12 cars.

I will suggest that the math does not work very nicely. Even if the wheelbase is the same, the chassis are very different for a front drive v. rear drive platform. Since these are unibody vehicles, there is no "drop the body on the chassis" type of thing to be done - they are integral to each other. On the SHO, for example, the only body parts the unbolt are the front fenders, hood, and doors. The engine is supported on a subframe. All the rest of the body / chassis is one welded assembly. The rear drive platforms of that era do not have removable front subframes, although the MN-12 does have a removable rear suspension subframe.

So, if you start taking a hard look at it, the A-pillar locations are way different, and from there back it gets even more different since the SHO is a 4-door vehicle and the others mentioned are 2-door vehicles. As E1 says, it would be a complete custom vehicle, and all it takes is time and money...

I was talking to Acuronda on this forum a while ago who made a special trans adapter that mated V8 Sho motor to a Ford Explorer 4x4 5.0 4r70w trans converted to 2x2. He also said that he used a t5 bell housing to align his adapter. I had forgotten ask him the thickness of the adapter or the material he used for it (aluminum, steel ,etc). He had told me the parts that were needed to make the engine trans combo work and what car they came off. I think he mentioned them also in his rwd thread.
