questions about bottom end problems/

I posted a question bottom end parts in another section but looks like this one is the correct place to ask this question.

Is it my understanding that the sho cranks cannot be ground down say like a
.010" undersize? Something about hardened? Also i'm pretty sure mine spun a bearing as it's loud as ****. Do this usually mean the rod is jacked up also? Just out of curiosity will a piston come out the bottom an an sho engine or does the main webbing interfere with it?

On spun bearings, how often does it jack up the rod big end?

you can regrind the cranks, but it is recommended to get a good used one as they are readily available and less than regrinding.

the rod end will be jacked up 100% of the time.

you cannot remove the piston/rod from the bottom - you must remove the head and pull it out the top.

Thanks for the info. Where is a good place to find a good used crank and about how much are they? Ballpark price. Just out of curiosity can I just pull the one bad rod out and have it resized? I've taken like 8 bare rods and had them resized before but never one rod with a piston still attached. I know this is a cheap ass way of doing things but just curious/

You can find complete shortblocks in the junkyard for just a few hundred dollars. Or contact Kirk at NESHO, and he'll get you a full rebuilt motor.

Not sure how dead set you are on keeping this motor alive, but it sounds as if the easier (and cheaper) way to go would be with a motor swap.

get it reground it dont cost much plus will save you getting another one..

just dont F/I or n2o without hardening first.............

Try shosource for a crank if you need one.
