I always wonder about that too, they can make up any number they want. I am skeptical of that transmission, I don't think it's possible to find a transmission or any other part for a 20 year old car with that low of mileage. Other than the shifter itself, the transmission did shift fine. As far as the bushings I had read on here that was a good way to go, pull them from a 2002 or something in that area. If it's not a good idea I wouldn't do it, I just wouldn't want hockey pucks under there so I'm sure anything is better. It does have some rust on the passenger side rocker, no big holes yet though. I really need to see the car in the daylight before I commit to it, I learned long ago to never buy a car in the dark cause there is a lot you won't see. Oh and I don't want to wait until Spring to buy a car. If this car isn't worth my time then I will probably end up in a Honda of some sort.

Not a bad looking sho, is that the only rust on the car? looks fairly clean inside from what can be seen. you really sound like you have an interest in wanting this car and with no other sho's around that you see, the price isnt too terrible, so take in mind what you know is wrong and what might be wrong with it or what will need to be fixed and make your decision to buy it or move on to another car. good luck

that looks pretty decent for $600-700, assuming it runs and shifts halfway decent. although I do recommend actually inflating the tires......

I talked to the owner as well. In fact, I may buy it if you don't. I noticed that the car has a front strut bar. And the shifter looks like a Jose shifter from the one picture you posted or it's been cut down. I think someone loved this car at one point. Sooooo.... are you getting it?

I think I would take a chance on it at that price. Might be pulling because the front tire is pretty flat.

That was my thoughts as well, as soon as I walked up to it and saw the tires like that I figured that had to be it. The guy said he didn't know anything about the pulling, but naturally I didn't believe him but I suppose it's possible. I'm going to make a decision on the car in the next few days, I will let you all know what I decide. Oh and I got here first ha ha so give me a few days on it. The rest of the pictures here

You did find it first. Finders>Keepers!!

I went to the Phoenix site and looked at what it takes to swap out the heater core. OMG!!! What a ordeal. I'd rather drop the motor given a choice.

Heres the link: http://www.shophoenixproject.com/heatercore/heatercore.htm

For the new guys : The above site is excellent and is very clear on repair procedures with lots of helpful pictures. It covers most SHO related problems and fixes. Also, if this site is helpful to you, and it will be.... leave a small donation to the site as a Thank you. While your at paypal in a donation frame of mind, drop some $$ to the SHOform as well so these resources stay up and running for future.

Hey mazdarx, we know u were lookin at it first, but its still open game if you havent bought it yet, im quite sure if someone walked up to the guy and handed him the money, it would be gone regardless if you were the first to look at it or want it. nowadays, money talks and its plain and simple as that. for the money, the car is worth it, my opinion only, id go for it and not waste any more time

I decided to go for it, now I am just waiting to see if he accepts my offer and if not what his counter offer will be. Ok a quick update, he accepted so it looks like I am buying an SHO.

Congrats, and welcome to the "family"! We're a pretty tight knit bunch, you're gonna like it here.

Hu does it offer any advantages? Our is it just a quick fix type of thing?

Some have posted that they really like the results. I wouldn't trust it on my car but I'm paranoid like that. I drive a GenIII and I would use the GenIII sub frame bushings on the earlier GenI&II cars or go with the aluminum bushings.

The pucks have been known to squish outwards and crack if they are installed without any kind of reinforcement, which causes the bolts to lose their torque. The way to avoid this is to sleeve the OD of the pucks. I think SHObill pioneered this.

I'm getting pretty stoked now, I should be bringing it home sometime next week. Then all the questions will really begin, and I'm sure I will have lots.
