OK, here we go again. Members, I would really appreciate it if you can give me some feedback concerning what may be wrong with my SHO now. I have a loud cluncking in the front end. Happens when I start out or make a turn at low speed. Also makes the same sound when I turn my wheels with the car at full stop. I just had strut mounts replaced and not long ago I had the sturt arm bushings replaced. I had the plastic tie rods replaced with moog metal ones. What am I overlooking?

Thanks

My car makes a kind of noise at a stop in the front. It's when you turn the wheel. Not totally sure how to describe it but it may kind of be a clucking. If it's the same noise that I'm experiencing then it may be the sway bar endlinks. Take a look and see how they look on your car. The ones on my car looks really bad, thats why I think it's them.

He said that he replaced them with the Moog ones. :thumb:

I just did that yesterday. I had the plastic ones one there, and swaped them out for the moog. The clunking has now subsided, for the most part. I do believe i need to purchase new TRE's.

Thats what mine was. But your saying you have allready replaced the SBE's. So, i would jack the car up, and get under it and start looking for something a miss.

The Subframes have been rotting out at the strut rod to the subframe behind the bushing. Simply remove the strut rod, weld the unit together, grind it nice and smooth, and reinstlal everything. It's a very common issue and typically overlooked.

As funny as this sounds, is it a clunk or a pop, it can be your brake calipers moving on the slider pins. I thought I had something wrong with my suspension and it turned out that the caliper, once the brakes are engaged or disengaged will move and makes a decently loud noise when turning the wheel, moving or not. Check this out as it is easy to replace the sliders, or just grease them.

How do I check them? Moreover, How do I check my end links. I am not a mechanic, although I am getting a good education in auto repair from my SHO. I am a cook by trade (Seafood) but I love my car even if something breaks every 1,000 miles or so.

I have learned alot from my car. You can see if the endlinks are bad I believe by seeing if the boots on them are torn. Also if they are greasable endlinks, they will ned to be greased. If you car is a gen 2 and has the plastic endlinks, then I don't know how to tell if those are bad.

To bo honest, find a reputable suspension shop, and have them look at it. They will usually only charge 5 bux to check your whole suspension out, I have a shop check mine once a year as they jack up the car, check everything, and I have yet to replace a part that didn't need to be replaced. I just do the work myself and if I need an alignment, I bring it in for that. You save labour and any "guess" work this way. They haer certain noises all of the time and will know right away what the problem is.
