I dont know if this is something that has ever been asked, and leave it to me to bring it up, but I look at my Mustang and my SHO and everything looks great....except for the rotors. I have 17" cobra rims on my mustang and used to have 17"s on my SHO, so I can see the rotors fairly easily.

...so when I look at all the detail work I have done to them I smile... until I look at the orange colored, blotchy rotors. I have looked at tons of pictures and posts of cars with nice shiny rotors and I wonder is that just due to new rotors or is there a secret to keeping your rotors looking all shiny and new? I drive both cars frequently so I know its not due to the cars sitting and building up rust. Im just curious. Maybe this is something that cant be fixed but Ive never been able to find a way to make them shine and it bugs me. Call it perfectionism but I thought I would ask if anyone has found a secret to keeping their rotors looking good?

....yeah...

and if it doesn't go away in a mile, that caliper isn't functioning. Could be the calipers, could be the lines, could be the MC...

hmm well I drove it and everything looks good. Right behind the wheel looks rusty still but the rotor looks pretty good. I feel pretty silly haha. Thanks for not judging my stupidity :) and thanks for the input.

lol no prob. As long as people don't act like they know everything, we don't give 'em a hard time. Also, keep in mind that rotors are solid iron... and you know what that means! They rust very, very quickly.

Quickly, as in a few hours. While at work with the car parked outside, if it rains, the rotors can show the rusted patterns of the splashed drops by the time I get off work. Ferrous oxide, or rust.
