Sure. Remove it, clean it and apply some silicone RTV. Another option is to plastic weld it if you have experience with this.

This tank is really more than an overflow tank. It is an active portion of the cooling system and is actually called the expansion bottle. It contains the coolant that is pushed from the radiator as the system heats up and expands the coolant. Whenever the radiator fan kicks on, or car speed increases and pushes more cooling air through the radiator, the fluid in the cooled radiator then contracts and draws a bit of coolant back in to the radiator.

I had the same problem, a crack in the bottom of the overflow bottle. It caused the coolant light to come on in the car due to (at least this is what I think) the fact that the sensor in the bottle was getting no reading. So...I unhooked the damn thing from the bottle. And then I replaced the bottle some time later.

I have no real problems with my cooling system. Although my coolant does leak a bit, I check all my fluids every day anyhow so I just top it off.

Just went through a major big deal with finding an accelerator cable. Found one thank god and I'm back on the road but man, at high miles, it's an addiction that needs constant feeding. I sure can't imagine selling or or driving anything else. It's tough love.
