I am switching out a 3.0 with a 3.2 into a 92 mtx. The motor coming out has an EGR Valve on the 3.0 so it must be a California car. If I cap off the EGR opening on the intake, will this cause any problems with the car. Do I need it ? If there are going to be issues without it, what can I do to address it.

Both engines set ups have the EGR so I can just leave the EGR on the 3.2 and install it. Does having the EGR on the car hamper performance in anyway?

oh in that case you will be fine with the straight swap. as far as i know the biggest issue with egr systems is the tubes clogging with carbon, and the egr it self becoming either stuck closed or open. you do know that you will need to swap the exhaust manifolds, and use the 3.0 acc. belt setup, and either cut out a chunk of the 3.2 front head or swap over the 3.0 heads to fit the 3.0 alt.

Make sure you use the 3.0 exhaust manifold. Eventhough they both have EGR flanges, the 3.2 exhaust manifold was made differently to accomodate that big ATX.

If EGR hiders performance, it's not very noticible. If I'm remembering correctly, it's not open under heavy load and should not affect acceleration.

When I pull the 3.0 bad motor out, I will go ahead and swap the rear exhaust manifold off the car.. I have 3.0 manifolds on it now but the rear one does not have the EGR port. Thanks for your help guys!
