Like the title says, I pushed the damn thing in yesterday. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if so, how you went about fixing it. Thanks in advance.

Oh yes, very common to break the switch. Thats as much as I can help, also, do a search for sunfrrof switch. See what others have done.

i came up with a pretty clever fix myself.

i had gotten a spare moonroof cover that i was going to swap into my car, but it didn't have a switch, and the rear metal bracket had come loose.

the switch "cage" was still in the cover and needed trimmed to allow room for my existing switch. but there was still a problem. the metal bracket needed to be fixed. i had a pile of plastic shards left over from trimming the "cage", so i used a couple of the larger ones and used the soldering iron to melt the plastic and fuse it to the cover to hold the bracket in place.

it worked great! so then instead of super-glueing the switch in place, i did the same trick with it. I used small pieces of trimmed plastic to fuse the switch to the cage, and again it worked great.

it gets a bit smelly, melting plastic with the soldering iron, but it is a good fix.

Find one at U-Wrench-It. That's were I got mine and I've seen a couple different SHO's there, though they were both gone last time I went...

Haven't seen alot of regular Taurii with moonroofs though.

Also, kind of off-topic, would it be possible to make the hole for the switch bigger and fit a door window switch in there?

I don't think I'm going to have to replace the switch as it still functions. I probably should have been more specific. I'm really wondering how I can get the cover off. I can't seem to find any clips or screws holding it in place and I don't want to just tear at the thing and hope I can put it back on after. Morpho18 I think what you're saying sounds like a good idea. I'll def. try it once I get the cover off. Thanks for the prompt replies.

It's been said that you have to some how pop out the console lights, and there are 2 phillips screws that you undo, and it'll drop down :thumb: . Unfortunately, I found out after I practically tore mines down, which in turn cracked the bracket that holds it up. Hopefully I can get some type of super glue that'll hold it in place. What's odd is my button isn't broken, in any way. I just could never get the sunroof to close from the vent / tilt position without playing with the button, untill it just wouldn't close. Any other position, it'd close / open no problem . . . .

Its understandable, but the contour switch dosent use the plastic "cage" the factory switch uses so it solves that problem as well. I just finished the install on mine last night and am very happy with it. mine dosent even have a gap around it. Now I just need to put a blue LED in it.

You have to use a flat-head screwdriver and pop off the lights (that you push in). You have to pop them off from the middle where the two lights meet, not the side that you push in. then there are two philips screws that you unscrew, then the console slides back.

When I replaced mine, I jst used a bunch of epoxy to hold the switch back on, and that works great :thumb:

Yea, make sure you slide the console back after you get the screws out. A lot of people just pull down and end up breaking it. When I did mine I had to replace the switch. I eliminated the cage altogether and just glued switch in place with some of that super glue it the little red/white tube that they sell at Schucks and other places. Your cage probably just broke and needs to be glued/taped/zip-tied back together somehow.
