Latest track vid:

PIR March, 2009 76M, about 13 minutes.

Took another 0.2 sec or so off the TTE track record. Other than that I wound up with a lot of clear track, so the vids were pretty boring. I had quite a few laps spread across a couple sessions behind the silver Corvette shown.

I also had a ton of fun doing lead-follows with one of the local race shop owners in a Mustang they play with from time to time. Obviously I don't have any useful video of when he was behind me, but the last sections are just me chasing him around. I helped them take about a second off their lap times, which was fun. I had been losing him on the banking pretty easily and by the last session I wasn't able to do that any more. ;) That car has about half again as much power as mine, but I don't think he had as much grip in the infield.

Yeeess I love these videos! I wonder what some drivers think when a Taurus is on their ass all the time?

Can't watch the vid at work, but I assume PIR is Portland Int'l? You drive up there from AZ? That's dedication.

It's the "other" PIR, which is a little bit closer for me. ;)

Thanks. It's pretty funny because when people at the track ask what I drive I usually just say, "A Ford Taurus". Usually the reply is, "The orange one?! I love that car!" It's hard to hide in that thing.

I show your videos to friends at work and they all say "Thats a Taurus?". But it always right up with the Corvettes and what not how does it keep up? I just smile and tell them what an SHO is and say I'll bet you won't look at one of those on the street the same way again will you.

It gets worse when I tell people the motor is bone stock. I'm glad I got that dyno in January as it finally shut some people up. ;)

Why, they thought you were running something other than stock? All you have to do is look at the motor and see there are no bolt ons.

Hehe.

I've been told that a couple people had been looking at my car at an event, saw the Halon bottles in the back and the hard line running up to the engine compartment, and concluded it was a nitrous system.

One of our local hotshoes has been accused of cheating with nitrous often enough that we make jokes about where the nitrous is hidden: the cage is pressurized, the a/c system, etc., etc.

Ha I wish I was closer to come down and watch for myself instead of only on the computer.

Way to keep reeling in that Vette.......I need to get a track car of some kind, my SHO is not fast enough for the long straights. A turbo car or Z06 will go by me like I am on a Sunday drive.....My last outing was a "Snow Drifting" day in 5 inches of snow in December in my 4x4 Dodge at a 2.14 mile track. That was fun too!

Sorry no vidio.
