15- ECA ROM test failure.
42- HEGO sensor circuit indicates system rich (rear).
75- BOO switch always closed.

KOER
22- BP out of self-test range.
51-ECT sensor indicates -40degF; circuit open. Suspect possible shorted ECT, harness.
67-'89: NPS circuit open; A/C input high./'90-91: NPS circuit closed; A/C on.


I do know that on a cold start up and at higher RPMs it does run rich enough so that i can see blue smoke but i the engine does not eat up oil at all. Any thoughts as to whats going on? I am thinking O2 sensor replacement time at least for the rear 3 cylinders. What do the other errors mean? I cant find a good explanation from shotimes, v6SHO, etc etc.

Blue smoke is oil burning not running rich, thats black. The oil on start up is probably valve seals and i dont remember if that would do it in high rpms, i think that may be rings. Not for sure about the causes but your definately burning some oil. Have you had a 60k lately?

The engine was rebuit not a thousand miles ago. I dont smell any oil at all and like i said, i have not had to add a 1/2 quart to the engine since i bought it. I can smell the exhaust and its definatly not oil....

When did it start smoking? The reciept I had just had a total cost of the rebuild with labor, it never showed the individual parts bought.

Are you sure the smoke is blue? The oil never went down a drip after me and my dad replaced the main crankshaft seal. Theres a small chance it could be running rich since the engine is a 90 model and the ECU / wiring harness are from the original 94 engine.

I wish I knew somthing about codes so I could help you, but I have no clue. How is it running other then the smoke at start up? I'll see what I can do about finding som information on the codes, because it's bugging me.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, the 02 sensors may be causing problems. Im sure the y-pipe had some oil get into it when the old motor blew. The oil may have messed with the 02's.

Did the check engine light come on?

Does the car have a chip installed? An aftermarket chip can throw a code 15.

Did you warm up the engine before you pulled the codes? An ECT code can be set if the engine isn't up to operating temperature.

This is a late reply but here we go...


Is only smokes on a cold start up... and i mean COLD. If i start it up after i get out of school, it wont smoke... When i go to start it in the morning to go to school, it will smoke for about 3 seconds. It is a very dark blue smoke now that i look at it more. I just did an oil change and put in a bottle of Lucas oil stabilizer in it and i have been running fuel treatment from Lucas as well... I went through about a quart or so of oil before i added the oil stabilizer... now it seems like it has slowed a bit. I am saving up for a set of O2 sensors right now so maybe that will solve the problem.

Aaron, dont worry too much about it. The car is running VERY well and i am a satisfied customer overall... These SHOs pop up with random problems all the time so i am sure its not your fault.

And yes i ran the codes after a 20 mile drive from school on a 95 degree day. I parked the car, went inside to change, ran the engine at 1500 for about a minute or so to make sure it was warm still and pulled the 6 codes then. Nope... no CE light either :cheers:
