my next step in my brakes is that damn proportioning valve. i have heard people talk about moding it. what do u do to mod it? or can it be taken out and just put a soild block back in its place?

For what it's worth~~~~~~~~I have an 89(no abs),but abs or not I highly recommend keeping it stock and DO NOT rig it so it has full force (lever against pins). I did this because I have Baer brakes in front and in theory I have so much brake in front that ty wrapping the prop. valve to full brake in the rear would be good. Well-it WAS good,very good,in the dry only. When it got wet it was to "swap ends" crazy and dangerous. I did several runs in the dirt and rears would lock up and not fronts (30mph) with normal brake pressure. I cut the ty wrap (normal now) and both would lock up-much better. I have tubular control arms so there is no mount for valve.

why is it some folks think they are smarter than the engineers at ford? It only makes sense to leave it alone. Maybe it's not a bad idea if you got ABS, but seems like an accident waiting to happen with the older no ABS cars.

Not smarter than the Ford engineers, but rather going for a different set of goals.
My prop valve pins hit the trash as soon as I drove a block with the bypass plugs in place. Hey, big surprise, the car stops better with the rear brakes working!
Keep in mind that I have Eibachs and Tokicos, which really eliminate all of the nose-dive on braking that factory SHOs do. Without that nose dive, the front weight transfer is minimized and the rear tires stay planted better. I also have ABS, and very good tires. Oh, and large front brakes, too.
I would not call the car dangerous or crazy even in the rain. It is very well balanced with the plugs in place.

so what your trying to say AutoXSHO to take the damn thing out? iam running new ss custom brake lines and iam just going to run them to each rear side. just straight lines to each side? iam not the smartest and like to be clear thumbs_u
A proper prop valve in the SHO requires TWO of them to do it right fully. This is to keep the rears on seperate feeds for the ABS. You can Tee it, but that will fool the ABS when needed and result in loss off pressure to both wheels when only one is needed. Call me if you want to go over it in more detail.

I also have the plugs on my SHO. I love the mod especially with my 13" brakes all around. I have mashed the brakes with these plugs and have the same reactions John V (AutoX) has. The rear tires stay planted better (also because of my koni/eibach). The rear slid on me a couple of times going into off ramps at high speeds and ******* the brakes, but a touch of the throttle and slight countersteer straightens the car out nicely.
