A friend of mine gave me seat covers for Christmas, and they're quite nice. The only thing is - getting them on. The covers have integrated bolster and lumbar, which adds onto the amount already in the seat. This makes the seat seem too small. Does anyone know if there is a trick getting these on, or would it take ones without the built-in stuff we already have in our seats?

Not sure about GenII's but off the shelf seat covers won't fit the GenI seats. The side bolsters and the rest are just too much surface area. Gotta spend the $$$ to get ones that fit well.

Mine have the bolster and lumbar and fit fine.Mine are the three piece in the front seats so had to cut on top as to fit over head rest.
I paid forty bucks to have it professinally installed,it took the guy close to three hours as he had to cut and sew to make fit perfect.
My seat covers are .
Three piece front, two piece back and front and back arm rests.

I installed the Coverline seat covers in my 89 last spring. Like rendyx, I had trouble installing them also until I called and talked to one of the installers at Coverline.

The secret is two-fold:

1) Run the bolsters fully inward. This narrows the size of the seatback.

2) Turn the cover inside out, then do a "reverse peel" of the cover. Put it on the top of the seat, then gradually peel it onto the seat, working it over the bolsters.

I found that once it was installed and while it was new, the bolster motor had a hard time opening the bolsters fully. Now that the covers have been on for 9 months, they have stretched enough that the bolsters operate normally.

One final hint: make sure that the seats are warm and that the covers are at least room temperature. The warmer they are, the easier they will stretch. I let mine lie in the sun for half an hour to make the vinyl easier to work with. I wouldn't even try this with ice-cold covers in the driveway in January.
