I have the PPE pipes with cats, I made no changes to my tune and have not been throwing any codes. When speaking with PPE we discussed the LMS cats installed in their pipes and the owner pointed out the cats on the LMS pipes would cause people to throw a P0420 code due to the low quality cats in their pipes.

Anyone besides me with PPE pipes without a tune with cats throwing a code?

Anyone with LMS pipes with cats throwing a code?

Wouldn't this mean that if you disable the code, that it wouldn't pass emissions testing in those states that have it?

I have a set of PPE on order. Once installed I will report.

For some states like AZ they just plug in and look for a CEL. For other states they actively converse with the O2 sensors to verify they are working and not disabled. For those states you wouldn't pass emissions and would have to return to stock. I'm looking for a list of those states but no luck so far.

As far as I know they look for a readiness check. If the readiness check fails, you fail the test. So what they do when they turn off the rear O2's they just tell the computer that it's an unsupported feature on the car, lol...not sure if that's how it is in all states, but that's what my experience has been.

I have run the PPE pipes for a 1000 miles with no CEL.

In PA you will not pass emissions with the rear O2s turned off, I have to return my Mustang to stock tune and run it a little (CATs are the last readiness code set, and you are allowed 1 incomplete monitor test) could be a pain if you don't know someone with a garage, drive too little and too many incomplete monitors, too much and the light comes on.

If there isn't anyway to tune around the rear O2 sensor in certain states then LMS may need to change to different cats or those people may have to go with PPE's pipes instead.

I have Kook's middies with their high flow cats on both of my G8's. Even though they are shorter than long tubes, they throw codes so I had rear sensors turned off in tunes. Know this is also required with American Racing Headers for G8. What I was told is that they & the sensor don't heat up as quickly due to the longer distance from the engine.

Fortunately for me, neither Iowa nor Florida require emissions testing!

Hello folks,
My 2010 SHO with PPE catted pipes,Corsa exhaust, Unleashed 75% meth kit, and Unleashed tune just sent out a P0420 code yesterday afternoon. I have read that several things can cause this including several cold starts over a short time, it's 20 degrees where I'm at. I cleared it but now what? Do I just clear it if it comes up again...can data-logging and a new tune help..changing the plugs(gap/heat range) ....new O2 sensors...anything .....

This may or may not have contributed...I had an open injector issue a few months ago and Ford had my car for some time. I had fuel filling my engine so much so that it was coming out of the exhaust. Ford, under warranty, replaced the injector and updated several others associated parts. It runs better now...but now the P0420 code.
Any feedback would be great. G

PS.. If anyone wants to read the paperwork from the work Ford did I'll try and scan it.

Please do, should be an interesting read. If I remember correctly, you lost a substantial amount of fuel through the exhaust, and the concern with unburnt fuel ruining the converters was brought up. It's possible the only reason Ford did not replace them was because of their being aftermarket. If you still have the stockers, may not be a bad idea to put them on now that the upstream problem has been fixed.
