Need opinions on this. Local dealer has believe it or not 2 identical 2013 Rudy Red SHO's. One has PP and the other is a Non PP car. I looked at both, hoping all things go right for wife and I, and we can purchase a new SHO. I know about turning off the traction control with the PP cars and the better brakes, gears, etc. Does each car have the upgraded coolers too, thats the biggest thing Im not sure on. Thanks

Only the PP pkg has the additional tranny, oil, and ptu coolers.

Thus the reason why FMC considers the PP pkg to be "track ready".

It all depends on what your looking to get out of the car. I've had both a Non PP and a PP car. I like to do a lot of spirited driving and race my car. So the PP 13 i have right now is great for that, and DD use. Its also nice to have the added drivetrain protection with the coolers and the brakes are really good.

If all you want is a fun DD cruiser and you don't have any plans to race very often i would go with the standard Non PP SHO.

Also the adaptive cruise is not available on the PP so that non PP might have that option?? If you do a lot of highway driving that may be nice. I haven't heard much of how well that works. If you give us the VINs we can bring up the window stickers and see what they all have and weigh in on the options.

This also details the PP. You also loose the spare tire with the PP.

The only thing I wasn't real sure about was the extra coolers. Its funny too, when I was talking with the sales people, I was referring to cars as a PP car and non PP car, the look and there face was priceless. Thanks.

That would have been to see. Again the extra cooling capacity was primarily designed for the Police package Taurus. Given they needed the extra protection for the stop and go traffic, long periods of just idling and periodic high speed chases. The the coolers help extend the life of your engine, transmission and other drivetrain components if you like to actually use the car's power more often than not.

Hope you don't mind me asking this here...

What about the 2010 & 2011 PP cars? How did they differ from non-PP? I understand they came with 20" wheels & tires, and had the shorter 3.16 gearing, but wasn't sure about other differences.

2013 SHO with the PP option... tracks nicely. I and some friend sort of flogged it at the Brainerd Raceway and the car handled the flogging nicely. Let say I avg 5 mpg all day at the track.... most fuel spent yet for racing...

I can't claim to have driven both, only my PP 2011.. but, I specifically wanted the more responsive steering, and cared more about acceleration than top-end (I deal with lots of stupid onramps) so I wanted the taller gearing, and have been happy with both.

Little nervous about not having a spare, but live in a very urban area with plenty of tow trucks around. I didn't know about the extra coolers being exclusive to the PP though, that's nice to learn.

The big thing to remember is that the PP comes with summer only performance tires, so you WILL need snow/winter tires as the summer tires are useless in temps below 45*F. Just keep in mind an extra set of winter wheels and tires will cost you around $1500. I'm not trying to discourage you from the PP, I just noticed you're in PA and that will be an issue, unless you go south for the winter.

The PP has slightly stiffer suspension as well, so it rides a bit rougher. It's not a huge difference, but there is a difference (I drove a non-PP and PP 2010's back to back, when they first came out).

So far in Philly with this being my 2nd winter with the SHO with th PP I haven't had any issues with the tires/driving and the temps lately have been in the teens and twenties. Now I probably just jinxed myself but so far so good.

Easiest way is look in the trunk. If you have a spare tire you are more than likely to have an non-pp car. Also if you have adaptive cruise control you have a non pp car.

Frankly, on 2010-12, the differntiation is cosmetic, unlike the 2013+.
