can`t it just be a 'bad ass' ford?
sorry, but I`m tired of all the 'ricer' connotations to my car,and after all,if it wasnt for FORD,this motor would have never been built!!!!

Hmm... let's see here.

This car is "bad ass" in a way.. but the only reason it is "bad ass" is because of the powerplant.
Ricers try to "sell" their cars for something their not. Since the SHO has a Yamaha powerplant, I don't see how one could compare the two in any way.

Of course, that's IMHO.

Your car can just say Ford if that's what you want, but the fact of the matter is it isn't just some "bad ass ford". Pick another stock Ford powerplant sold in America (and not the one that's 2 cylinders and 2L larger and we all know what can happen stock vs stock in that scenerio) when the SHO was introduced that can move this car the way the yamahammer does and also makes the car fun to drive.......................

Times up you couldn't. I can see your point of Ford contracting Yamaha to build this motor, but If I were to go to a race shop and tell them I need something loosely based on a V8 block, they design me a motor and test it, I then go out and win my season with the motor they built me which ends up being an LS7, who should get credit for this motor?

Huh? I don't recall saying who designed the motor in that post. I said ford CONTRACTED Yamaha to build it.

I did the same thing, but with vinyls. Later I added the "+N2O" when modifications made it feel necessary. So, count me in with this Import-Appreciating-Ricer-Crowd.

I like to mix my badges... Im keeping the front "Ford" badge as well as the "TAURUS" on the rear driver's side. I recently got some Yamaha "tuning fork" badges and I'm thinking about replacing my "24 DOHC" badges. Does anyone have a good way to get those off safely without screwing-up the paint job too much? I tried tugging at these ever-so-gently and they would give so I didn't pursue any further.

I'd appreciate you guys with experience in changing out your badges giving me some tips.

on paint this old i don't know...but I got the dealership badge off my truck just shortly after we gat it and used some goo gone. it was held on with 3M 2 sided tape so I don't have ANY clue about these. You may want to start your own thread about them to get more responses.

Try heating it with a hairdryer and using fishing line to slice the adhesive, then maybe goo gone or something similar.

Word. Thanks. I guess I should've been more detailed in my question though - it is actually in two parts.

My first concern is getting the original badge off - is it OK to just try to pull them off by hand (I guess "shearing" them would be the smarter thing to try) or is there a better way? Looking closely at the factory "24 DOHC" badge, it looks like there is some pretty heavy duty "black stuff" about a few millimeters thick holding the badge onto the SHO. If I just use brute force, will this work without damaging the paint?

Actually I need to get a new paint job anyway because dooshbag keyed the SHO soon after I got it but I don't want to ruin the pain any more than it already is until the time comes...

Second, I guess I would use some solvent-based adhesive remover for any left-over adhesive that doesn't come off with the badge. I'll look into 'goo-gone' when the time comes so thanks for this...

I would wait until you decide to get the paintjob, and have whatever badge you don't want shaved and replaced. i have no idea if it would harm the existing paint.
