I have a 1994 5 speed with what I believe to be a leaking Power Steering unit. Is it much of a job getting them out and a re new ones available. It does not leak much but it drops on the cat converter and really stinks.
Power steering units only rarely leak. Happens (along with the PS hose), but rarely.
Far more common is the rear cam seal that will look like a PS pump leak. Stick your fingers under the bottom of the cam sensor housing. If they come out oily, it's the rear cam seal.
I actually replaced my cam shaft sensor last fall and I did check for leaks. The oil seems to be coming from a flywheelto the left of the camshaft cover.
If you do find it to be PS fluid, the leak is more likely coming from the high pressure hose. You can check for this by wrapping a paper towel around the hose up by the pump and cycling the power steering with the engine running. If it is a hose leak you will have a good indication of where it is coming from. It could also be the seal at the hose fitting to the pump. You must find the source of the leak before you can fix it.
