On the lift manually turning wheels it sounds like a bucket of gravel in the rack. Disconnected motor and some brown water came out but motor spins ok. Still the gravel noise in rack. Anybody change one of these? I assume the subframe.has to be dropped.

Yes the book says to drop the subframe. Also the new module requires programming after the instalation.

Dont get rid of the old module until after it is programed.

Thanks, I have an autel scanner maybe can program it with this. Maxixys tool... my tienrod boot had a big hole in it. I think water and debris got in there and chewed it up. Water came out of motor when disconnected too.

If you can program your current module, should be able to do the new one.

Nope. All of our cars from 13 forward use a power steering control module/electronic power assist system that has a module integral to the rack. It's all one package.

Before 13 looks to be a hydraulic system with mo modules involved.

I'm going to take a guess that your part is new to you, not new out of the box. Even if it's new out of the box and it works with no warning lights, I know it has a U2100 stored in it.

I see in your other post it's a new unit. Was it a Ford part? Or an aftermarket alternative?
