Where is the best procedure for this job found? I've got the subframe down and my rack has seen better days. I've done some searches but haven't found any real installation detail. Any help would be appreciated.

Factory replacement procedures should be somewhere here: http://www.denniswolfe.com/Taurus/RepairGuide/Repair.htm

If the subframe is already lowered or removed, rack replacement is simple. With the subframe still installed, it's a real PITA.

Disconnect the steering linkage from the column, remove the outer tie rod ends from the knuckles, disconnect the lines and swap it.

Great! I'm in the process of a clutch job so the subframe is sitting nicely aside. I was concentrating so much on the clutch procedure that I forgot to direct my self-education towards the rack :) Sounds like a really easy job. Thanks for the reply!

Is it crucial to replace steering lines? Can the new rack be damaged by the old pressure/return lines?
