So the tie rods on my passenger side are shot, busted fittings, leaking grease and a ton of play. My driver side is not as bad as my passenger side but are still bad enough.

Its the Outer Tie rods on both.

My thoughts are that considering the Power Steering rack is the original rack-according to the maintenance records from the previous owner- should I go ahead and while I am at it do a whole new rack or just do the tie rods?

Someone suggested to me about swapping in a Gen 3 Power Steering rack and all I would have to do is modify the Pressure line from the pump to the rack.

I have the money at this moment to do either option.

Thoughts?

I believe you need a custom line for the Gen3 rack.

For the labor to swap tie rods it would be easier to just swap the rack to get new inner tie rods and god new rack. We do offer one with a 3yr warranty: SHO Source

I fail to see how swapping a rack and pinion is easier than replacing an inner tie rod end, especially if you were working on the ground.

For the effort you put into the inner tie rods you can easiliy to the steering rack. Also if the rack is original and around 20yrs old it might be time anyways.

^ That is what I am thinking with this post.

I know my outer tie rods are bad, so how long do I have till my inner tie rods go?

Dont feel like finding that out at a bad time like on the track at VIR at the convention...

So I am thinking with a 19 year old rack, it would be better in the long run to replace the whole thing.

(Plus I am wanting to do Aluminum Subframe bushings, and a 24mm swaybar, so doing this all at the same time would be best!)

I don't know how long you have, are you sure they are still good?
