Started my car and it says power steering disabled, the wheels will hardly turn, can't go anywhere. Anyone ran into this before.

Yea I had my rack replaced because of it. Out of warranty it was alot. I'll see if I can find my bill. They found out pretty quick that my engine was not stock as the oil pan is completely different and other parts...

Mine does that every now and then.

I've found that if I wait for the tach and speedo to do their initial swipe before touching anything (radio, heat, shifter, brake, etc), it does not happen.

How's your battery doing? If it does happen to be your rack, I got a new one on Tasca and installed by a local shop. Then I mailed the old one back for core return. Never get a refurbished/remanufactured rack. Used is sometimes good.

I’ve had the message, with no actual problem. And I’ve had the problem, with no message. The latter was battery related. Unfortunately, yours seems real. Good luck, and let us know what you find.

Had mine done at 188,000 miles. Would start the car, get power steering fault message, turn car off, restart, problem went away. This happened randomly for about a year or so. Finally, it failed. These cars are a bitch to drive when that happens! Mine cost about $2,000 as well.

For 2010 - 2012 SHOs: Is there a pinon gear lash adjustment I can tweak some play out with? All new inner and outer tie rods are on the car. Found the pinch bolt was slightly loose on shaft from steering wheel. That took out some of the play. (why it was loose, I have no idea...) Guessing what little 'lash" that is left is adjustable somehow? I've looked all over and haven't found any thing other that other cars have lash adjustments on the oil fluid type racks. I presume you can do the same thing on electric rack and pinions too. I haven't found any
thing on electric racks though.
