Well after having everything in the front end apart, I wonder if I kinked something somewhere .... When it was going back together, I turned the wheel to get the tie rod into the knuckle a little easier. Well after all was said and done, I noticed the resivour was nearly full. Too full really, so I made a scooper deal to get some fluid out which I did, but now my rack, or pump is groaning at low rpms, and has never done it before. I hung the tie rods on the springs like I've read before but I wonder if I broke a seal somewhere near the inner tie rod? I haven't seen it apart and would assume there's a seal there? Only reason I say that... is that after putting it all back together, I have a little play in the inner tie rod, and never had before, or ever for that matter. Fluid is black as night, I have an extra pump in good condition, just no extra rack at the moment. Where should I look? Thanks again in advance.

Oh yea its a 92 if that helps your VAPS question.

First, get that nasty dark fluid out! I have done a few flushes on SHO's and noticed an improvement both in sound, and in the wheel.
Play at the tie rod is not good. ;)

LoL yea I'm watchin it kinda closley, kinda thinkin of just swapping the entire rack just for sport, being the inner tie rods gotta get outta there. Now another thing that Storm Chaser was telling me, that the reman racks have kinda wimpy inner tie rod ends, as opposed to the TRW's Anyone got pics of the difference, or can comment on that further?

Ok.. well I got it up off the ground last night, went thru the procedures... and.... I look in the resivour and see bubbles!! woo hoo, I'm doing something right! Well.. I get back under the car and check things out... and my rack is leaking on the drivers side.. think I found the place the air is getting in at.

So now my question is this... my rack has never given me an issue, but the only real ''strain'' that was put on it, was when I dropped my subframe, and tied the tie rod ends to the springs. You think that was enough to yank a seal loose inside there? It does leave it at a funny angle hanging there. Reguardless, guess I need a new rack, but still don't know if I should use the inner tie rods or not. Someone has to have an opinion... ??
