Power steering groan rattle noise while turning right.

Hey all, I've noticed my 90 SHO sometimes makes noise when turning. The noise comes and goes, and it seems to mostly be while making right turns at slow speeds like a parking lot. Its a sort of groaning/rattling noise, but it doesn't always do it. My first thought was low power steering fluid so I topped that off but I still happens from time to time. The belt seems to be in great shape, replaced it less than 10k ago and its not loose. Any ideas?

Maybe a front strut bearing? Can't hear these except at slow speed, in my experience.

I have the same issue. I am thinking it might have something to do with my bad axle.... cant find any other explanation. Perhaps the bearing like turbo said. I hoping it goes away..lol

Is a bad axle the same thing as a bad cv joint?

How do I check a strut bearing? I didn't even know struts had bearings, lol

Try this: Park the car, and get a buddy and an auto stethoscope. Turn the wheel and see if the noise happens. If it does, put the tip of the stethoscope through the strut tower where the strut rod nod sticks through. If it's a strut bearing, you'll have the noise isolated at that point.

Sometimes this can be caused by overtorquing the strut rod nut. Un fortunately I don't think that it's a good idea to try and correct this, if that is what the problem is, with the strut still in place. That is, though, a question for a suspension pro.
