You can get the engine to produce about 700hp, but the transmission can only hold about 400 if your lucky. What keeps killing all the boosted SHOs is the $hity transmission.

i was hoping it would be somewhere in the 600's but 700 would be quite nice yes. Im being very ambitous in the fact that im going to do a project car. im going to basically throw this engine in a beefy chassis with a t-5 tranny. im starting to draw up the plans (howeveri dont YET have the money =)).

Hate to be a stick in the mud... But until you find a way to mate said T-5 with the SHOtor other than the even more rare aerostar bellhousing Your project is limited to about 350 Hp/TQ using a 3.0 v6 ranger tranny

Several of the boosted Ranger guys are running over 350 lb-ft at the wheels and no one has yet blown up a Ranger manual trans. However, the Ranger auto trans is barely able to take the torque from the stock Ranger motor....

Also the internals from the 4.0 ranger trans are more beefy, and they will swap into a 3.0 trans.

Lupo, just wondering, is this a 3.0 ranger trans or the SHO MTX 3.0 trans you are referring to ? I'm guessing ranger since I've never heard of anybody swapping internals on an MTX.

I am working on swapping a SHO engine into a camaro. We have made a adapter plate to mate the SHO engine to the TH400 transmission and for the T56 that I have. I have intentions of pushing the engine very hard since I will not be able to hurt a TH400 transmission even with a maxed out SHO engine. As long as it will take the high rpm that is.

It's the Ranger 3.0 trans I am referring to. You can use the 3.0 ranger trans case with all the internals of the 4.0 trans, which are beefier.
That's what we are doing with the RangerSHO right now.

its not really fair to say about 700 hp because no one knows how much power it can make

Talk of a guy making 700+ hp on nitrous and boost before a spark plug came apart. Meaning this isnt the power limit its just the most power made to date.

The trans can handle way more than 400hp... It can handle as much as you can throw at it. It's the torque that kills it.

They can be built like any other motor. As far as the most horsepower, might be somewhere between 500-600 at the crank.
