While I was under my car replacing my O2 sensors, I noticed a then piece of aluminum between the engine and transmission near the oil pan. This piece of aluminum is bent towards the oil pan enough that I can stick my pinky inside of the tranny. Is this something I should be worried about? Is it only a heat/dust shield?

Thanks,
David

So, its nothing to be worried about, right? Could any of the "dust" that gets in there cause problems?

Wait, Wait. Pinky INSIDE of the trans case? Sounds like you might have joined the club of "diff pin through the trans case". MTX , ATX ??

Not a big issue really. You should be able to bend it back, maybe a mallet will help persuade it back into place. Unless you're mud bogging with the car it shouldn't cause an issue.

That is the TC inspection/dust shield.

It's easily removed and hammered back to straight if you are so inclined.

You're kidding right? Or drunk? Both perhaps? :)

Well before he answered with what his trans is I was confused. As per one a MTX should not be able to take a pinky unless its axles or drain plug or removed. When I discovered I shot a pin was when I was able to stick my finger THROUGH the case. But then he specified its a ATX and turns out the kid was talking about his Tc/Flywheel Inspection plate. I may have been a bit tipsy tho bob lol Didnt pay attention to the aluminum part til now, Now i feel like an ass:laugh_ti:
