So I found and emailed on a 98 on local CL ad. Said it has welded cams, new suspension all around, and rebuilt transmission by a local shop. They have photos (not digital) that the shop took of the cams after welding and have the doc's to prove both. After both the car has approx 20k on it. Total just over 100k. From the pictures it looks great on the outside and the additional pictures look good on the inside.

Ok that's the good. Now for the BAD.

It has a salvaged title, but the same shop did all the body work and looks good. They said if I come to look at the car the have photos (again not digital) of the car on why it has a salvage title. Guess massive rear end damage and such.

Ok here is where I need help: I can look of the car suspension wise and look at what was fixed to see if there is anything to worry about. But what quarks should I look for in a Gen 3? Otherwise if my buddy finds another summer car I might be buying his 94 manual that has under 110k actual.

BTW they are asking 2700 obo so my thought was to start lower with it, like 2300

BTW it also has a loud power steer pump they said. And needs rear brake job. Neither really worries me as much as possible engine or transmission work.

so long as the cams are welded and the tranny was rebuilt by someone possessing half a brain, it should give you plenty of worry free, if not slow miles.

Thanks for the slow comment...love it. But after finally talking to the actual owner it seems there are some differences in stories...idea is dead for now.
