i recently got stuck in a snowbank with my 92. i engaged it in reverse and attempted to get out. then after a passer-by pulled me out with his f-150. i went home. and i noticed it was acting really sluggish, i got out and listened to it and i think its knocking. how much is that to repair and will i cause damage if i still commute to work?

First, get another ride if at all possible! I wouldn't drive it or run it more than necessary to show to someone if it's knocking. It's funny that it would start after getting pulled out of there. I don't think the diff pins would "half-break," you'd probably hear a loud noise followed by extreme engine braking if that were it, from what I've heard about the problem happening.
