First click off

For nearly 6 months I thought I only had a 13 gallon tank when I first got the car, though I never ran completely out I had driven several times with the gauge on E for 70 miles sometimes. Then after reading that it was a bigger tank then the 13 gallons I was getting in it I patiently kept slowly, very slowly putting fuel in until it hit 21 gallons. If I gave it a few seconds when it would come up to the top of the neck it would slowly recede and I could force more in. As Paul stated though, I also had fuel come out the EVAP canister under the spare tire well. The engine tends to stutter and stumble ocasionally dying when I do that though.

I still can't believe the ~630 miles on one tank. That is AMAZING.

Most I've ever done is maybe 250 or so on the trip out west for the SORC.

I'll know more this weekend, as I'll be driving a distance on the interstate to check.

Even more amazing

This is after the 90mm MAF, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, intercooler and the Vortech singing right along.

Up to 14 extra litres now (past the 1st click)

Most I've ever gotten was about 450KM on a tank.

ArkanSHO, what was your calculated mpg? 630 miles/tank is not very meanngful if you filled the EVAP, intake manifold, engine block, vent tube back the the rear axle etc. with fuel (I kid, I kid).

Trying to get an idea of whether the 90 mm MAF gives more accurate air and hence fuel metering, kind of like how the 80 mm does a better job than the 55 mm (while also giving less pressure drop). zak

I am sitting at 125 miles on 1/4 tank, that was with adding about 2 gallons after the first click.

I'll let ya know what my mpg is when I fill up, if ever with the price these days.

I've been walking home (~2 miles) from my summer class in a way to stay active and cut down my fuel consumption. Also going to look at a bicycle today to ride in town.

Not really thinking about gas consumption at all, but rather for fun and exercise, I picked up a trail bike last fall and have since been riding it 6 miles or so every other day. Its great and a good workout, though I am now going to have to increase my distance as I am not noticing it at 6 anymore. Next stop is 9 miles, I think. :)

Get that bike, you will like it.

Well this is my record. Both in cost and gallons.

My parents brought my Giant Boulder 500 mountain bike down. Fixed the bike tube and am set to roll on it now. It rained this a.m. so I did not ride it to class. Tomorrow is a different story! Also considering riding it to work (~4 miles on city streets or sidewalks) to boost my aerobic exercise. Which is nill besides the walking home.

If you're going to ride on the streets of Lincoln, for God's sake BE CAREFUL!!! Bike paths are your friend if you can find one. As stylish as it is, wear a helmet, especially if you're going to ride streets.

Last time I added an extra 14 Litres after the 1st click, the total amount filled was just over 59 Litres. Considering the tank is suppose to be 60 Litres, I thought I was filling it too much.

I have now only added an extra 12 Litres every time.

Cheers everyone.

The tank will take 20 liters past the click, minimum, and perhaps a tad more for the filler neck if you wanted to run it up there. If you want to keep safe, and save time dribbling it in, you just go 10 liters past the click every time and never have to worry about much of anything, as well as getting some extra range.

And these days, the way gas costs are going up, you likely save a few quarters with on board lower cost fuel stock. ;)

This is always a good way to start a raging thread on the V8 List. I have twice put 21 gallons in mine and also made the trip from Indy to home, ~630 miles non-stop (didn't impress the wife since she had to **** like a Russian race horse when we pulled in).
Remind me to share this quote with Tammy the next time I see her.

I'm sure she'll appreciate the sharing... :laugh_ti:

I've never gotten to 20 litres past the first click. Last time I went to 14 Litres past the first click I got up to just over 59 Litres. Since I had some gas already in the tank I don't think I could fit anymore.

Perhaps the 1st click happens at different times at each gas station...?

Who knows? I think I will stick with 12 - 14 Litres (pass click). The gas needs some air too :)

I am sure there is variance between stations, and even between pumps at the same station. How much variance, I really do no know. I have noticed maybe a liter difference in the click offs regularly when hitting a couple of different places in a row. Mainly I try to always go to the same station if not traveling and use the same pump, just to try to take this factor out of the equation.

For the first time in a while I actually did a couple of fills and checked consumption. 20 mpg in very mixed driving, some city, some back country road, a bit of highway. Not a huge amount of WOT, but there would be some, as we have stop light breaks on the highway out here, so you get in an occasional zero to 75 mph or so with your foot all the way in it just for fun.

Got 22 with the second to last tank, 19 with the fill up last night.

I put about 3/4 of a can of seafoam in the fuel tank and have been doing more highway driving and switching the A/C on and off down the road.
