Just got a '95 ATX at about 115k miles.
I read about the tune up so I had the timing belt done right after I got it. Now I am having trouble accelerating off the line. It feels like I am pulling a huge weight or dragging in some way once I hit 4000 rpms. As they go up from there, the speed barely changes. Any ideas as to what this could be?

Also the plug wires seems old...

Update

Also, the acceleration problem only seems to occur in first gear.

Another possibly related problem:
If I floor it and run it to 7000 rpms, the engine seems to kick off or **** for a fraction of a second as it shifts into the next gear.

First thing I have to ask is, do you have oil in your plug wells? #2 Have you checked for any ECC codes? If not I would take a look. Check the link in my sig, it shows you how to do it yourself for free.

It sounds like the secondaries are stuck open. You should notice an increased acceleration at 4K RPM due to the secondaries opening not like you are dragging weight. Do a search on here for procedures on checking the secondaries.

Engine Codes

I pulled the codes and this is what I got:

Key On Engine Off

335 (O) EGR feedback signal is/was out of range - EVR or PFE

111 System checks OK

------------------------------
Key On Engine Running

326 (R,M) Pressure Feedback EGR shows low pressure EGR not seating or not seating intermittantly - PFE

225 (R) Knock sensor not tested (ignore if not pinging) - KS

------------------------------
Cylinder Balance Test
9 No Problems

The EGR codes shouldn't cause a problem like that.

It is possible that your new timing belt is "off" a tooth.
