So I have two SHO's, a 94 ATX and a 95 MTX. Over the past few months I have been taking parts from one car to the other. Both cars have ABS/Antilock lights on now. Basically I have probably damaged a few of the ABS sensors in the process of installing the struts however I am just trying to make sure my logic in fixing them is correct as the sensors are not cheap. Here is what I have done on each car to help with some of the history.
94 ATX -
I removed the Koni struts/Intrax springs and installed my original struts from the 95 MTX. Repaired one of the brake lines on the RH rear. Bled all the brake lines with new fluid. Started driving the car and the Antilock light comes on periodically, not all the time. I scanned the codes using the paper clip method. Here are my codes:
36 - RH Front
37 - RH Rear
67 - Pump Motor Relay
76 - RH Front
Here is my method of attack to fix the problems. I was going to start by replacing the RH Front since it came up with two codes. Then on to the RH Rear. After replacing those items, I was going to take the car out and drive it around to see if that corrects the problem. If not, on to the Pump Motor Relay (PMR). Can someone explain what the PMR is and where it is located on the car? Or should I start with the PMR? When I push on the brakes sometimes, they start pulsating and push back at my foot. Kinda freaky!!
95 MTX
Again I removed the original struts/springs and installed the rebuilt Koni struts/Intrax springs. In the process I completely destroyed the LH rear ABS senor and since replaced it. Also I accidently drained the reservoir empty when bleeding the brakes. Since the brake fluid had been topped off at the appropriate level. A local mechanic told me to remove the battery, connect the positive and negative wires and let set over night to reset the computer. That didn't work. The ABS light stays on now 100% of the time. Here are my codes:
34 - LH Rear
33 - RH Rear
My method of attack was to change the LH Rear first. I have already installed a brand new RH Rear, so I am a bit confused as to why it still pulls up a code. I checked all the connects before pulling the codes. Any other thoughts? Is there a way to reset the cars computer or ABS system to let the car know I have installed new sensors?
Lastly just so I make sure I reading the codes correctly, LH means drivers side and RH means passenger side. Is this correct?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
