How do I make the phone recognize me? Also, how might I get it activated for 911 and emergency calls like that?

Thanks,
Brad

Any cell phone in the US should work with 911 (only) whether it has been activated or not.

For those individuals who only need a cell phone for true emergencies, this is a no-cost (after acquiring the phone) way to have it. No service activation or fees are needed.

Just keep in mind that the only numbers you will be able to dial is 911 (Emergency) and the customer service number for the carrier for whom the phone was intended (*611 should work for that).

There's this thing, called an owners manual ya see. Inside it, there are these things called instructions, that tell you how to operate the phone... :)

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Brad, if you're talking about voice recognition dialing, it's usually part of the process of storing phone numbers in the phone's memory. After you enter a phone number, a name along with it, and store it, the setup process will usually ask you for a voice ID which you'll have say a name for the number you just entered. You'll probably have to repeat the name so it will recognize slight variations in the way you say particular words. Then again, it all depends on what kind of phone you have.

All cell phones in the US will work with 911, BUT alot of them will dail customer service if it is truly not active. While the phone has been temporarily suspended for non-payment they will still dial there though.

Manual, ha ha. :)

It didn't come with a mannal and the local Ford dealership can't tell me anyhting about it. I know that any phone CAN call 911 and other emergency #'s but mine just connects me with like verizon or something and asks for my credit card number. I know I need to have a service plan for the phone but I want to learn how to work the freaking thing first! Does anyone have a pdf of the manual or something similiar? Or maybe just type out some generic instructions?

Thanks!
Brad
