Well my oil leak has all but stopped now. It appears it used a qt the first 70 miles or so, then another in 150 or so, and the last one it used about 1/2 of the last one slowley and hasn't used mush if any last 3 or 4 days. Only explanation I could get is the problems it had when I got it, bad ETC, thermostat and wires all caused it to run rich, so all the gas "washed" the cylinder walls. Not sure what that means but now that I've fixed the problems and drivin it awhile it's going away. Not sure if that was the problem or not but I'm definatley not complaining. Thanks for all the help trying to figure it out.

Its burning the oil. The cats do a good job of hiding the smoke don't they. The oil control rings are stuck. coked-up. Blow-by is excessive. You are smelling it, right? You can fix leaks til' the cows come home and it will still use if this is the case.

I go through a quart or so a month...only because it is leaking through the main seal onto one of the cats. Kind of sucks when you are sitting at a stop light and it looks like you have a fire under the hood eek! I need to fix it soon.

It would suck even more if the oil finally does ignite on you! eek!

Yea, it would, but it is not that bad of a leak. Can oil really catch fire? Would the exhaust system be hot enough to light it? I didnt think about that...good point. I plan to fix it this weekend anyway. :)

Check your cam seal behind the cam sensor. It is another popular leakage point. Mine was trying to imitate Niagra Falls....

Just curious if the Cam Seal that you are talking about is the same as all the rest of the Cam Seals? I have a leak in the same area but I'm not sure which gasket's I need in order to fix the problem.

Thanks.

Yes leaking oil can ignite. Ask the guy who had a nice oil leak and made a road trip to NY. Marshmallow time in the engine bay.
