What we need is bigger calipers and rotors not just new pads.
Probably because I've driven so many vehicles with terrible brakes, especially the big block muscle drum brake cars from the 60's, I have no problem with the SHO brakes.....but a larger diameter rotor would help, look at room inside the wheel well to allow that.

Yea, you can fit a 17" rim over those brakes.
BTW, is that jackstand on an aluminum control arm? If so, I don't think that's such a good idea, even if it's cast iron because a control arm is not designed to take a load in that direction and could bend or crack easily. Now, that mounting location for that control arm on the subframe is a much better spot. Just looking out for your safety![]()
The jack stand is only there for my safety, I moved it there for this photo, there is NO weight on it, the jack is on the subframe.
I've worked on Cup cars for 38 years as a mechanic.
I have a clue.
