I think I actually just read that article Shelby did.. pretty interesting. Kind of makes me think the semi-metallics of only 10 years ago were kind of a crappy compound, and were a little too abrasive if you got on them kind of hard. Come to think about it.. they always squeaked... the PFCM pads I have now, I haven't heard a peep out of in 20k miles.
So maybe there is a lot to be said about the pads... I just notice the difference in rotor cost, and wasn't sure if it was strictly the warranty I was paying for. Was a good read tho.
